A new platform for dialogue, launched at the World Summit of Nobel Peace Laureates with the support of the Soloviev Foundation, exploring sport as a tool for peace.

The Sport Diplomacy Dialogues start from the conviction that sport speaks a language understood across borders, and can open doors where formal diplomacy struggles. With the support of the Soloviev Foundation, Save the Dream launched the first edition in Monterrey, during the 19th World Summit of Nobel Peace Laureates, held from 18 to 21 September 2024.

Founded by Mikhail Gorbachev in 1999, the Summit is one of the world’s leading gatherings on peace, and marked its 25th anniversary in Monterrey. It was co-organised by its Permanent Secretariat, Encuentro Mundial de Valores, the Mexican Government and the State of Nuevo León, who named the Dialogues one of its key highlights.

The Dialogues examined how sport can drive peacebuilding, unity and reconciliation, bringing Nobel Laureates and global leaders together with athletes such as Save the Dream Ambassador David Trezeguet and Diana Flores, captain of Mexico’s flag football team. Conceived as a recurring platform, the Dialogues link the moral voice of the Laureates with the reach of sport, and a Vatican edition is in preparation.
