Save the Dream was launched on September 11, 2012 at the Sorbonne-ICSS Sport Integrity Symposium held at the University Pantheon Sorbonne in Paris.

Speaking on the occasion, Alessandro Del Piero, legendary football champion, said “we need to think about how to protect the innocence of those who look at us, how to protect the faith in sport. We need to think about how to teach the values of sport. For this reason I decided to join and contribute to the creation of Save the Dream, a global program of communication and awareness to prevent fraud in sport which affects the trust of young people, and to prevent this wonderful tool for social and individual growth from being damaged.“

Del Piero was chosen to captain Save the Dream’s Athlete Ambassadors Team, a group of high-profile athletes from different sports and regions of the world. Save the Dream will also be guided by a High-Level Panel, a multidisciplinary team composed of world-leading experts in diverse fields of sport, art, business, international affairs and media. H.E. Sheikh Saoud bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, Secretary-General of the Qatar Olympic Committee, acts as Chair of the High-Level Panel.

Created in a partnership between the International Centre for Sport Security and the Qatar Olympic Committee, Save the Dream was designed to nurture the core values of sport in young people and to inspire a new generation of athletes to safeguard the purity and integrity of sport.
