On 3 November 2015, Save the Dream launched a widespread advocacy campaign in Times Square, New York to ‘Restore Hope and Peace through Sport’.

The initiative called for a prolonged Olympic Truce to ‘Let the Children Play’. It took place one week after the adoption of the resolution on the Olympic Truce by the UN General Assembly which was widely promoted by the event.

Save the Dream Ambassadors and other celebrities participated in a range of activities and delivered motivational speeches.

Giusy Versace travelled directly from the International Paralympic Committee Athletics World Championships in Doha to perform the dance routines which won her the Italian edition of Dancing with the Stars. The Italian Rhythmic Gymnastics team performed the routines which won them the World Championships.

Save the Dream High-Level Panel Member Youssou N’Dour performed the “Save the Dream Song” live, and Alessandro Del Piero, Fernando Hierro, Fernando Sanz, Edgar Davids, Yuri Djorkaeff, David Villa, Honey Thaljieh and Bora Milutinovic played friendly matches with children on a purpose-built football pitch.

The event was viewed live by the 350,000 – 400,000 people who pass through Times Square daily and over two million people were reached by social media.
