Save the Dream Week held in Italy from 13-17 April, together with Serie A TIM. The Save the Dream Week – which was brought by “Qatar Airways” and as Strategic Partner “Qatar Chamber” – was a wonderful display of joy, solidarity, creative initiative and fans support.

Jointly conceived with Centro Sportivo Italiano (CSI) to recruit volunteers for the to go and work in disadvantages countries to teach children sport disciplines, fun and fair play, the Save the Dream Week also saw the birth of a new collaboration together with Fondazione Borgonovo. We are sure this new partnership will prosper and help the football school, entitled in the name of the famous Italian striker, to become how education at large can be given though sport.

Save the Dream Week started on 13 April with the Launch Press Conference at the “Circolo Canottieri Aniene” one of the most prestigious temple of amateur and professional sport in Italy. It was attended by the President of the Italian Olympic Committee (CONI) Giovanni Malago’, by the Director General of Lega Serie A Marco Brunelli, by the President of CSI Massimo Achini, by Nawaf Al-Enazi on behalf of the Qatar Embassy in Rome, by Eng. Ali Abdulatif Al Misnad Boar Member of Qatar Chamber, by President of ICSS Mohammed Hanzab and by Save the Dream Executive Director Massimiliano Montanari.

Following the Conference, the mini soccer field of Aniene hosted an exhibition match, organised by Sport Integrity Ambassador Simone Farina, between the home team and a Save the Dream – Qatar Airways selection of champions among others Giuliano Giannichedda, Bernardo Corradi, Stefano Fiore, Giuseppe Favalli, Vincent Candela, Damiano Tommasi, Giuseppe Giannini, Alessio Scarchilli, Gaetano D’Agostino and more importantly hundreds of children participated to the match and then played of their own.

On Friday 15 April, the Excelsior Hotel Gallia hosted the Save the Dream “Gala Dinner” attended, among the others, by the Qatari Ambassador to Italy H.E Abdulaziz Bin Ahmed Al Malki Al Jahni, the Vice-President of Lombardy Region Fabrizio Sala, Attorney General Pierluigi Dell’Osso and Stefano Dambrouso, in representation of the Italian Parliament.

Soprano Paola Sanguinetti, pianist Claudio Cirelli entertained the public while Ambassador Giusy Versace made an appearance and Roberta Vinci pledged her support to Save the Dream with a video message to the event.

Save the Dream Affiliation Program made its debut in Italy with the President of Piacenza Calcio Mr. Marco Gatti receiving the first honorary plate. On the occasion, Fiorentina FC Board Member Giovanni Montagna was awarded by President Mohammed Hanzab for his outstanding dedication to sport values and sportsmanship.

Saturday 16 and Sunday 17 April, in all football courts of Serie A, Save the Dream Children entered the field carrying a banner asking public for support. At San Siro Stadium in Milan, the led boards advertised for Save the Dream and the sponsor Qatar Airways, while at Artemio Franchi Stadium in Florence in the VIP Lounge Save the Dream distributed gifts and brochures.
