Sport Integrity

“Sport Integrity – A Right for Youth” was enthusiastically attended by leaders from the world of sport, government, international development and child protection. As this last was a particular theme of the forum, it was apt that Save the Dream ambassador and former Olympian Penny Heyns was on hand to highlight the role we can play in uniting young people with ethically sound role models, steering them away from corruption at an early age. The highlight of the event was the call to celebrate sport integrity under the umbrella of the annual International Day of Sport for Development and Peace, by H.E. Sheikh Saoud bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani, Secretary-General of the Qatar Olympic Committee and Chairman of Save the Dream High-Level Panel. This received universal approval.

“When young people cannot count on integrity in sporting competition, how can they count on integrity in any other human endeavour? Respect for human rights is fundamental to the future of sport, and it is a legal obligation that sports organizations and authorities cannot escape.”Navanethem Pillay, United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights.
