Workshop and eSports Tournament Being Held at Virtuocity as Latest CSR Initiative.

Ooredoo, a leading supporter of sports in the community in Qatar, has announced that it is to host an event with its partner Save the Dream, a global movement that aims to promote and protect the values and integrity of sport.

The event, which will be co-hosted by the telco leader and Save the Dream, is intended to connect youth in Qatar and promote societal values through eSports.

The event will be held at Virtuocity at Doha Festival City on Saturday 15 October 2022, and will include a workshop focusing on sportsmanship and an eSports tournament for young people in Qatar.

The workshop – which will precede the tournament – is intended to raise awareness of the values of sport at large, and of the role eSports can play in terms of connecting youth with different abilities, regardless of where they are. Both the workshop and the tournament will offer an opportunity to learn, compete and develop friendship through a positive gaming experience.

Sabah Rabiah Al-Kuwari – Director PR at Ooredoo – said: “We have long had a strategic commitment to supporting the communities in which we operate, and to promoting the benefits of a healthy, balanced lifestyle. Co-hosting this event with Save the Dream gives us the opportunity to demonstrate both these commitments in a practical way, and we hope the young attendees will enjoy the event as much as we will. Thanks to our partner Save the Dream for working with us to make this event happen!”

Massimiliano Montanari, CEO at Save the Dream, said: “We are very proud to once again join hands with our long-standing technology partner, Ooredoo, and  launch this new initiative aimed at engaging youth through eSports. eSports played an important role in keeping young people connected and interested in sport during the worst days of the pandemic, and this event is intended to act in a similar way; to ensure our youth, including children with differing needs, have full access to sport and its values, inspiring them to stay in sport for life.”
