As the final of the Supercoppa Italiana headed to Doha for the very first time, Save the Dream seized this exciting opportunity to promote the positive ideals and values that sport can teach young people.
While Juventus and Napoli prepared for a showdown on the pitch, Save the Dream teamed up with Aspire Academy, the Qatar Football Association and Lega Serie A to celebrate the essential values and true glory of sport – and help spread an important message around the world.
Ahead of an enthralling match, children wearing Save the Dream colours escorted the players onto the field. Campaign banners and short films were displayed around the ground prior to kick-off and during half-time, while players, coaches and prominent guests expressed their support by wearing Save the Dream badges, pins, caps and scarves.
Activity in and around the final also included a reception hosted by the Italian Embassy, and a special exhibition at the Al Sadd stadium of over 100 stunning images that capture the impact of the 2014 FIFA World Cup™ on the streets of Brazil. This exhibition is part of the ‘Noites do Brasil’ project – a unique collaboration between Save the Dream and Magnum photographers.
“To safeguard the future of sport, it is crucial to engage and inspire the next generation of young athletes and share with them the purity of it. I would like to thank the QFA, Aspire Academy and Lega Serie A for helping to share the spirit of sport and would call on other organisations around the world to do the same.”Mohammed Hanzab
Like him, we look forward to further opportunities to celebrate the pure passion and universal values that sport inspires.
