Helping sport clubs across the Mediterranean understand the UN Sustainable Development Goals and act on them locally.
SportEYE started from a gap most clubs recognise: sustainability is discussed at federation and policy level, but rarely translated into what a community club does on a Tuesday evening. The Mediterranean, one of the regions most exposed to climate change, was its focus.
The project first mapped how sport organisations understand and apply the UN Sustainable Development Goals in their daily work. Focus groups and interviews involving 40 sport organisations fed a good-practice report on what clubs were already doing and what stood in their way. From that evidence the partners built the training programme Promoting Sustainable Development through Sport, the SportEYE e-Community and a set of policy recommendations, presented at the final conference in Athens in September 2025.
Save the Dream was one of the implementing partners, working closely with the International Olympic Truce Centre, and with Fútbol Más, PLAY International, the Sevilla FC Foundation, the Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore and the European Football for Development Network (EFDN).
