An agreement signed with the International Olympic Truce Centre (IOTC) in December 2015 has led to a series of joint activities to promote the “Sport for Peace” concept and to empower youth.
These activities have focused on the promotion of sport as a tool for social transformation and inter-cultural dialogue, including among vulnerable groups such as refugees and war-affected groups.
As a part of these efforts, Save the Dream partnered the “Imagine Peace Summer Camp” which took place in July 2016 in Ancient Olympia, Greece. The Educational Camp gathered 50 young people from over 20 countries at the International Olympic Academy in Ancient Olympia for one week to engage in interactive workshops and sporting activities to promote equality and peace. Thanks to its technological partner, Ooredoo, Save the Dream made it possible for 10 participants from Qatar, Sudan, Egypt, Lebanon, Afghanistan, Italy and Morocco to participate in this unique learning mobility opportunity.
The Camp was organised by the IOTC in collaboration with the British Council, the UN Office on Sport for Development and Peace (UNOSDP) and Save the Dream, as educational partner, which delivered workshops and case studies on sport and inter-cultural dialogue.
